My dear Clara,—

Before I could do any writing this morning I had to thaw out the ink, which was frozen solid, does it make you shiver to think of it? Our past week has been very cold. the thermometer going down to 48° below. Last night a blizzard set in and is still raging although it seems to be clearing up some. This kind of weather one has to stay in the house and I am very thankful I have such a nice place to stay. I have managed to keep myself pretty busy so far and it has not seemed so lonely. I have been putting in my time chopping wood, so as to be prepared for such weather as this is and I have a big supply on hand. The cabin is just as comfortable and nice as any one could wish, and I
