WARREN SCHWARTZ Company B. Fifteenth Engineer Battalion Fort Bragg, North Carolina

III

I'm sure the merchants would come off their high horse. C Company of the Engineers has the right idea. Their company commander is trying to keep his men out of Fayetteville, as there is now too much disease in th town. Every third week, he is taking his whole company to Carolina beach for the weekend, and he is trying to arrange convoys to take the men to Raleigh. He certainly has the right idea. Incidentally, two fellows from my barracks are in the hospital with the clap disease, so you can imagine how wide a berth I am giving the town. I only go in now for a meal and a show. Beggars can't be choosers, so if you can find anyone that wants to send me something, I would like a can of Blue Boar tobacco for my pipe which I can't get here, and which I find is the most enjoyable to smoke. As soon as I finish this letter, I am taking off for Washington DC, by machine, as I've just got an overnight pass,
