WARREN SCHWARTZ Company B. Fifteenth Engineer Battalion Fort Bragg, North Carolina I June 30, 1941 Dear Mother Here it is Monday morning with Cous and Marsha still at the guest house ready to take off. I don't know whether I will see them this morning, as we are leaving shortly for four days maneuvers; we won't be back until Thursday morning, as far as I know. Am starting this letter while waiting to leave before or after Cous shows up, depending how fortunate I am. I doubt whether this letter will reach you before Saturday, as there probably won't be a chance to mail it until Thursday. It's tough, but there's nothing I can do about it. Came back Saturday to find three packages waiting for me. There was one from Charlotte and Ben, from Jennie Burtman with Dad's tobacco, and from home. Well let's go back now and see what happened. When I discovered that I couldn't get off this last Saturday and Sunday, I wrote an air mail letter home and mailed it Saturday. However, I discovered a fellow leaving on furlough for Boston Saturday afternoon, so I removed the letter from the box and gave it to him to mail from South Station. That's why you got the letter Monday morning postmarked from Boston. Cous got the letter Monday
