3. As much or as little do I feel about Sam as a person, I was so touched. It was heart-rending watching him say goodbye to David who of course cannot grasp the full impact of the situation but who somehow sensed the sadness. Sam almost wept and with real feeling too. And it was sad too for him with nobody real close to move to The only thing that saves the situation is the fact that Sam will find it easier to adjust, knowing the ropes or as he said "where the pans are in the kitchen of Camp Upton." So said "goodbye" and sort of had to promise to write him about David. Mad had gone out for the evening to avoid the "good bye."
